Sandthrax Canyon (aka The Chasm of Doom), North Wash
Sunday we visited The Chasm of Doom, aka Sandthrax Canyon, to see where our friends got stuck.
Here’s the Mouth of Doom, the exit of Sandthrax Canyon. Ominous. The bottom is flared downward and has a little space, and SOME people can get in about 30 feet. But upward, it pinches to a 6″ crack, and goes up that way about 100 feet (on this side).
Ms. Scotter shows the advantages of her Irish heritage.
Thirty feet in, it gets muddy and pinches down to a very narrow crack, that even the lilliputian Ms. Scotter cannot squeeze through.
