Cerberus Canyon, Death Valley National Park

Cerberus Canyon is a BIG Death Valley Classic. So I took the day off (and enjoyed it immensely) while the boys engaged the challenge. Here's their story...

(Tom takes the next day off, and enjoys it immensely).

Early morning finds us up in the wind of Dante's View again, with Cerberus as the day's objective. We follow the instructions from Chris Brennan's Excellent Website across the ridge, then down this slope into a canyon.

Ram's Death Valley Diary of the day available HERE (on the Canyons Group).

Looking down the ridge to the floor of Death Valley, and Telescope Peak across the way.

Smilin' Ryan Hull, a-rappin' down the canyon. Up high, we are in the chossy stuff here.

One of the longer raps in Cerberus. I think the rock here is welded tuff.

They build their cairns BIG, 'round here.

Mmmmm, nice rock, eh??? Another short rappel.

Bill Wolverton, bane of Russian Olive everywhere, having a quick snack.

Smiling Ryan Hull, of late from Sacramento.

Also smiling, Steve Cole.

And the Ramoo, smilin' as usual.

Also along for the day, a friend of Steve Cole's, Randi from So Cal.

Back into the pink/orange granite, yet another rappel.

Bill workin' it on another rappel.

A long rappel, took a little figuring out.

Ramoo munching, Steve Cole nappin'

Team Cerberus. It must be late in the day.

Walkin' the fan to the car.
